Like all around the world, American Muslims change their schedules and meals during Ramadan. The month when they are forced to fast from sunrise to sunset.
Mubarakah Ibrahim is the leading personal trainer and owner of Balance Fitness in New Haven, Connecticut. During this period, she marks the sessions with her students for the morning hours, when she has more energy.
Ramadan falls during the hottest time of the year in many places. Because of this, Mubarakah, as a professional instructor, is particularly concerned with hydration during fasting hours when water is not allowed.
“I tell people that instead of drinking a lot of water before they start to fast and a lot at the end of the fast, they should drink 240 ml of water every 20 minutes [before the onset of fast] and their body will absorb more and they will stay hydrated all day long. ”
