Meghan Markle is one undoubtedly busy lady but she always manages to keep her workout routine going. How does she find the time to keep such a healthy lifestyle?

The Meghan Markle’s workout commandments

Between being a worker, wife or mom we all must try to regard the most important: the work to be happy with ourselves – to be a proud woman. Albeit all the challenges life throws at us, with will and determination, it’s always possible to achieve balance.

The Duchess of Sussex is no exception. To maintain her healthy life (and figure), Meghan Markle religiously follows her body and mind commandments. Grab a pen, and take note!

1-Treat yourself

It’s important not to get overwhelmed with our lives, and always take the time to access the situations and how they are impacting us. According to Meghan Markle, this is extremely necessary and comes within many forms – workout included.

“I give myself the luxury of downtime. We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things but I always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs and enjoy a glass of wine. That’s all part of the investment. It’s a balance.”

2- Focus on the process

Essential to any workout routine, is motivation, according to Meghan Markle. People need to focus on what triggers their motivation instead of their results. Only then will they be able to trully create a sustained and durable routine.

“My health, my state of mind, the feeling you have after a workout; all of this things drive me to step onto my mat or go to the gym. Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely dreadful, but I always remind myself of how good it will feel afterward. Euphoric, almost!”

3- Practice mindfulness

As we’ve seen in our Mindfulness: what it is and why you need it.’ article practicing your mind is as important as your body. Meghan Markle is a follower of this moto and hence highlights yoga as a key habit in her workout routine.

“My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood. I love an intense vinyasa class – and even better if its blasting hip-hop and done in a dark room with candlelight. The best!”

4- Find a workout buddy

As with anything in life, we are more keen to honor our obligations if other people are depending on them. Also, if you are working with someone you admire, his habits may serve as inspiration for you to get better. The same happens when you workout.

“I’m eager to come to the UK to do a workout with Russell [Bateman], the founder of SBC. My friend Millie Macintosh raves about his workouts, so I’ll call her up to do a class together next time I’m in London.”

5- Love yourself first

When we are on point with who we are, with our strengths and faults, everything else gets easier. The point is not think of yourself as perfect, but to properly acknowledge when you are improving.

“When I look in the mirror I see my freckles. And I love them.”
